Prof. Rolf W. Einsele has many years of experience in industry, including more than 30 years in management positions encompassing intellectual property law. His main areas of expertise are technical IP rights (patents, utility models and design IP rights), contracts, in particular contracts on licenses of IP rights, IP portfolio management and IP valuation for technical IP rights.
Prof. Einsele was active for many years in numerous professional associations, including being the long-time vice president and from 2001 to 2007 president of the VPP = Deutsche Vereinigung von Fachleuten des gewerblichen Rechtschutzes e.V. He was also active on the board of GRUR and LES-Deutschland and thus followed the legislative developments surrounding the EU Community Patent whilst serving on various committees. Such committees included Prof. Einsele being chairman of the committee for industrial property rights at the Bundesverband der deutschen Industrie (BDI).
Prof. Einsele held a lectureship on the subject of management of industrial property rights in industry at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 1997 to 2011, he has been an honorary professor in this field at the East Bavarian Technical University Amberg-Weiden since 2008. Through his educational activities and with each of his lectures, he represents his professional conviction of the high importance of industrial property rights for all areas of industry.
